Basic Computer Graphing and Charting Skills

Goal to be met by the Seminar
This seminar will focus on developing charts and graphs for insertion into Microsoft Word documents. The length of the seminar is 2 hours.

Description
Graphs and charts can add immediate value and variety to a document. It's true when we say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Often, difficult to convey information is easily shown in a graph or chart. Also, industry trends, etc. are easy to spot using certain types of charts such as bar-charts.

Topics to Investigate
You'll learn how to use the menu bar and create graphs and charts. We'll walk you through each step so you "learn" the process rather than "memorizing" it:

  • Insert
  • Object
  • Compose graph/chart

Next, we'll construct a brief one-page document with a chart or graph that you'll develop and insert into the Word document.

Basic Computer Skills

Goal to be met by the Seminar
The participant will learn basic Microsoft Word computer skills. The length of the seminar is 2 hours.

Description
This seminar will be a hands-on learning experience to go over the basics of Microsoft Word. When participants learn to use Microsoft Word efficiently, they will increase a company's productivity and profitability. Additionally, your employee's self-esteem will be enhanced.

Topics to Investigate
This seminar will cover basic topics such as:

  • Booting up the computer and using the mouse
  • Font styles and sizes
  • Format elements such as Bold, Italics, Underline
  • Format elements such as left, right, and center justification
  • Page set-up
  • Cut and paste
  • Use of delete key vs. backspace
  • Opening a document
  • Creating a new document
  • Printing a document
  • Saving a document

Basic Microsoft Power Point Skills

Goal to be met by the Seminar
This seminar will focus on developing a Microsoft Power Point presentation. The length of the seminar is 2 hours.

Description of the Seminar
There are many tips and techniques the participants can use to compose a basic Microsoft Power Point presentation. We'll look at the different Wizard templates. Then, we'll discuss different page formats to maximize the effectiveness of the presentation.

Topics to Investigate
To familiarize the participant with Microsoft Power Point we'll discuss menu bar items such as:

  • Opening an existing presentation
  • File
  • General formal
  • Pre-designed presentation designs
  • View of the presentation--one or several slides per page
  • Inserting elements
  • Format
  • Font size
  • Font style
  • New slide auto layout
  • Move, copy, add, and deleting slides
  • Saving
  • Printing

If time permits, we will compose a short presentation.

Basic Microsoft Excel Skills

Goal of the Seminar
In this seminar, we'll discuss the basic spreadsheet capabilities of Microsoft Excel. The length of the seminar is 2 hours.

Description of the Seminar
There are many uses for spreadsheets. Most involve using formulas to calculate totals. The ease of Microsoft Excell allows a person to change data throughout the spreadsheet and have totals automatically calculated. As a result of attending this seminar, the participant will be able to:

  • Activate Microsoft Excell
  • Open an existing spreadsheet
  • Create a new spreadsheet
  • Enter formulas into cells to add, subtract, divide, and multiply
  • Enter data into cells
  • Change data in cells

Topics to Investigate
To familiarize the participant with Microsoft Excell, we'll learn about the various menu bar items such as:

  • Opening an existing presentation
  • Creating a new presentation
  • File
  • View
  • Insert
  • Inserting, moving, changing data
  • Format
  • Saving
  • Printing

We'll also learn basic spreadsheet capabilities such as navigating within the spreadsheet using the mouse.

The participants will learn how to write equations for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

Basic Project Management Skills

Goal to be met by the Seminar
After attending this seminar, participants will be able to understand project management techniques. Managing projects is a skill-set that will enhance the profitability of a company.

The information presented will take the guesswork out of project management and create a formal, structured approach to make sure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Description of the Seminar

The seminar will lead participants through a methodology of 4 steps. By the end of the seminar, the participants will know the basics of solid project management planning.

Topics to Investigate
During this seminar, we'll look at four steps:

  • Planning
  • Monitoring
  • Controlling
  • Re-planning

In each step, we'll examine its relationship to the overall project. The participants will also learn how each step leads into each other and provides feedback for the project manager.
