Robert D. Mease - Principal

Mr. Mease is a principal in M. Arthur Consulting Group. He holds a BS in the sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from DeSales University, an MS Certification in Project Management from Stevens Institute, and is PMP Certified from PMI. He helped to start a new chapter for PMI in the Lehigh Valley region, and having developed a graduate curriculum in project management, teaches part-time at DeSales University's MBA program.

His interest and skills are focused on developing end-to-end business process solutions. He has been very successful at concept development, requirements gathering, team formation, planning, customer agreement, implementation, testing, customer approval, and closure. He becomes actively involved with the change management of the organization that is needed to support these new efforts. A new application is only successful if the customer is able to effectively utilize it, and is able to demonstrate new efficiencies or revenue.

Mr. Mease's experiences extend beyond IT and software. He has been very successful in directing a product quality re-engineering initiative that returned a $1.4B consumer goods manufacturer to profitability in only nine months time. He was then asked to direct a product development process and component quality program. This supported the installation of a new $500M product realization center as a spun off business unit. Using an intensive component audit process with international suppliers, he was able to negotiate the testing and replacement on a troublesome component that saved the company $1.4M.

Through positions of increasing responsibility, he has 27 years of experience in chemical, research, manufacturing and operational environments. He also developed a government (Dept. of Commerce) advocacy program to assist international sales, as well as directed an ISO9000 certification for a consumer product OEM.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Created three B2B E-commerce order management initiatives that generated over $20M in revenue.
  • Developed an organizational change management process enabling marketing and sales to transition into the new E-commerce channels
  • Established two Program Management Office (PMOs) for different divisions, that included a gate process and model for all projects, reducing average project duration by 10%.
  • Negotiated contracts (totaling > $15M) with vendors, 3rd party financing, contractors and application providers.
  • Created a Customer Service Support Call Center, and an associated quality improvement program that reduced product return rates by 60% in less than 1 year.
  • Defined a new customer base to utilize web ordering, directing a team to analyze, market to, and capture 2000 new customers.
  • Experienced in organizing and directing programs across multiple organizations and countries. Created a white paper on this subject for the 1999 Lucent Technologies, Inc Project Management Conference.
  • Introduced a new product introduction program that tripled the number of new Integrated Circuits (ICs) introduced into manufacturing, within a two year period.
  • Directed a quality reengineering initiative that returned a $1.4B consumer products business to profitability in 9 months.
  • Designed and directed an IT security evaluation and upgrade program globally to all 14 business unit server centers, completing the project in 80% of the projected time
  • Developed and directed the infrastructure upgrade and training to support an SAP Finance installation for 1300 global users. This included the replacement of the corporate chart of accounts, and was completed within a very strict time schedule.
